Exhibition Label Text: Silver coloured metal canister with green canvas straps, a grey plastic mouth piece, black nose clip, brass respirator piece and buff plastic chemical canister inside. With a yellow paint spot on the base and lid.

An improved model of the MSA 230 & MSA 265 introduced in 1967 & 1968 respectively. Designed to give protection for at least 1 1/2 hours in lethal concentrations of carbon monoxide, Every man entering a mine is required to carry a self rescuer and keep it on his person during the whole of his time underground.
