Cylindrical wire rope sample with metal cone shaped end and wire wound
around the other end to stop unravelling. L 70.5 Diam 6.5 cms
Exhibition Label Text: This shows the end of a wire rope and the cap which held it in place.
By law, all ropes had to be recapped every 6 months as the end of the rope or the cap
comes under strain. New caps were formed by pouring molten white metal into a mould
held on the end of the rope.
